Lainey Wilson Wins Debut Grammy® For Best Country Album
Lainey Wilson’s incredible career reached new heights as she was honoured with the Best Country Album GRAMMY® for Bell Bottom Country. With current single “Wildflowers and Wild Horses” and #1 hits “Heart Like a Truck” and “Watermelon Moonshine,” the album has been a game-changer for the Louisiana native, winning Album of the Year at the ACM and CMA awards, respectively.
As she won the award, Lainey Wilson fought back tears and said, “This is absolutely wild y’all” on the global broadcast. It is my first GRAMMY®. Jay Joyce, Jason [Hall], the other songwriters, musicians, and everyone else who helped make this album, you have my deepest gratitude. I am forever changed by it. It was in a rural area of northeastern Louisiana that I grew up. Two hundred souls inhabit this sleepy little town. Being the daughter of farmers goes hand in hand with my own sense of identity as a farmer. Plus, I always assume that the people I hang out with are farmers as well. They cultivate narratives. Planting seeds, tending to them with water, and seeing them flourish is what it’s all about. On occasion, a once-in-a-lifetime harvest is possible if you locate the ideal agricultural community. That is my firm belief. This evening feels very much like that to me. May you all be blessed abundantly. Lord, I am grateful. The Recording Academy, you have my deepest gratitude. In gratitude to my admirers. You all mean the world to me.
Lainey had an incredible 2023, winning five CMA Awards (including “Entertainer of the Year” as the top honour), four ACM Awards, two CMT Music Awards, three People’s Choice Country Awards, finishing a 28-date sold-out headlining tour, and making her debut at Lollapalooza and Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Additionally, Wilson was recognised as a “Rulebreaker” for 2023 by Billboard’s Women in Music. In March of 2024, Lainey will have her own shows in Sydney and Melbourne, and she will also headline performances at CMC Rocks as part of the highly anticipated “Country’s Cool Again” and “Lainey Wilson: LIVE” tours.
