The Mavericks Ready To Share “Moon & Stars”
With a highly anticipated new album, “Moon & Stars,” the Miami-formed and long-time Nashville-based Americana stalwarts THE MAVERICKS have unveiled details today along with a new single. Released on May 17th through the band’s own Mono Mundo Recordings imprint in partnership with Thirty Tigers, the award-winning group’s thirteenth studio album is their first new music since 2020’s revolutionary and top-charting “En Espanol” project, and their first return to a fully English-language release since 2017’s critically acclaimed “Brand New Day” album.
“This record has been a journey of reflection, introspection, patience, learning and evolving. Some of these songs were written years ago, but they weren’t ready. Or maybe we weren’t. We are now…”– THE MAVERICKS via Instagram
For “Moon & Stars,” the Mavericks dutifully recorded tracks in Nashville, Tennessee’s Blackbird Studio, Santa Fe, New Mexico’s Frogville Studios, and Maurice, Louisiana’s Dockside Studio, adding to their already distinctive and eclectic Americana / Roots fusion of Alternative & Outlaw Country, Rock, Blues, R&B, and Tejano/Tex-Mex influences. The end product is an album that fans have been waiting for, and it evokes the classic Mavericks sound that will sit comfortably among their most cherished albums, all the while stretching the boundaries of genre and the band’s signature melting pot sound.
Friday, March 1st will see the release of the album’s lead single and title track, “Moon & Stars (with Sierra Ferrell)” (with advance press copies available upon request), as well as the debut of pre-orders for physical CDs and vinyl and pre-saving for the album on all major digital streaming platforms. Plus, Max Abrams of the band ‘Fantastic Five,’ Nicole Atkins, and Maggie Rose are all set to make special appearances on the record. Song co-writers with THE MAVERICKS also include Bernie Taupin, Sam Hollander, Wally Wilson, and more…
“The Mavericks are capable of doing everything from rock & roll to Tex-Mex to jazz & soul…a breathtaking collective that can do anything – everything, really – better than the rest. …
The big band sound of the … wildly eclectic group …is an earthy but globetrotting place…
