In the wake of the success of his critically acclaimed and ARIA Award-nominated album South of Everywhere, Henry Wagons is back with the first single from his upcoming cosmic country masterpiece, The Four Seasons, which is set to be released on August 16th on Cheatin’ Hearts Records. This new single “Freight Train (Going South)” is around a “train and pain” melody that builds and builds to a pulsating beat, full steam ahead from the opening bars.
Discussing the new track, Henry Wagons states: “Did you ever get the feeling that everything around you is going downhill, fast, and nobody is listening to you scream it from the rooftops? The whirlpool is sucking everyone into the drain at the bottom of the bathtub. The downward pull has a momentum as forceful and as noticeable as a freight train, going South, but no one is paying attention. But, let’s not forget, a train ride can be amazing and transformative, so let’s strap ourselves in the caboose and take the wild ride into oblivion.”
Along with Si “The Philanthropist,” a longtime musical collaborator of Wagons, comes Canadian pedal steel wizard Matt Kelly (City and Colour) and trumpet legend Liam McGorry (Ex-Olympian, Saskwatch, Eagle and the Worm) on Freight Train (Going South), which features Si singing with a soothing blanket of backing vocals, whilst every other instrument is played by Henry Wagons himself.
The Four Seasons, the forthcoming album, is an outlaw surf journey in the vein of modern-day Morricone. Bring your headphones for a trippy, mesmerising musical party, where you can expect to go through a myriad of songs and instrumentals, concepts, and sceneries that change seamlessly with the four seasons.
